Pre Event Technical Safety Inspections:

This competitor vehicle inspection process is mandatory for every entrant!!!

All participants are required to have a licensed automotive technician perform a Competitor Vehicle Inspection.
Please download your relevant vehicle inspection form below:

This inspection must be performed no earlier than four weeks prior to the event. Any vehicles from the Calgary area are encouraged to book their inspection with ZR Exotics. All competitor vehicles must have new competition spec brake fluid of at least(Dot 4) rated in their competition vehicle at the time of the event. These fluids are manufactured by companies such as; Motul, Brembo, Willwood, EBC, Bel Ray, Silkoleen etc. Therefore, a brake flush and fluid change is a mandatory tech item that has to have happened within one (1) month prior to the event. No Exceptions.

In addition to the Competitor Vehicle Inspection, ZR Exotics will perform a comprehensive inspection/report as a courtesy to event competitors. We encourage you to book your car in early to guarantee that it can be inspected in time. The mileage of your vehicle will be noted at the time of inspection. If your car is to be used excessively between the inspection and the event date, your vehicle may be subject to more scrutiny at the event field inspection. Safety deficiencies noted on your official inspection form must be attended to prior to the event. Note: Officials reserve the right to deny entry into the event for obvious safety violations.

(Day 1) Vehicle Field Technical Inspections - Mandatory: Friday August 24

All participants in Race the Base are required to bring a completed official Competitor Vehicle Inspection form with them upon arrival for the Orientation/Practise day. Day 1 will commence with Field Tech Inspection scheduled for Friday August 24th on the event grounds at 7 am. We will run multiple tech inspection lanes to expedite the process. Our goal is to have inspections for all competitors completed by 9:30 am. Safety deficiencies corrected since your original Competitor Vehicle Inspection will be noted and all competitors that pass field tech inspection will receive their coloured tech inspection and official competitor number plate decals.

Note: Upon passing this visual inspection you will be issued a special coloured windshield tire tech decal. No competitor may run the standing mile or two-mile event without a passed tire tech decal. No exceptions. If you arrive late to the event, see the Tech Inspection Tent/Area for you review prior to lining up in any event staging area to get your tires inspected!  If your competitor car leaves the competition grounds for any reason during the practise or event day, you must revisit the tech inspection area to have your tires cleared for competition.

(Day 1) Orientation Day/Competitor Practise Day - Mandatory: Friday August 24

All participants in Race the Base are required to attend the Orientation/Practise Day (Day1) which takes place Friday, August 24th from 7 am-4 pm. In addition to the Competitor Field Inspection, which is required for every competitor, the training and orientation you will receive is critical to a smooth running and safe event. No Exceptions.

Safety/Drivers Meeting: All competitors are required to attend the safety, rules and regulations overview meeting. The basic rules of conduct, procedures, and course routes will all be clearly defined and reviewed at this meeting. No Exceptions.

Event Instruction: Competitors will receive expert instruction from a multitude of driving instructors for each of the points paying events. We will also have expert demonstrations on the elective events. The event marshals will announce your starting event by competitor number for the event day. Once you have your starting event, the order of the events remains consistent for everyone.

General Orientation: All registered competitors will receive a ground orientation tour to ensure the routing and general flow of the competition day is well understood. This is the day to ask questions if you are unsure of any logistics issue. You will learn where the official field inspection area is located, the main competitor gathering/tent area, the individual competition zones, (and their staging areas), as well as the official transit zones between the events.

Event Practise: All competitors will get at least one trial run on every event course. You will get a group tour of each course and the inter event transit zones. Following that, instructors will run at least one trial run with each competitor at a controlled speed (TBD) by your individual instructor. Time permitting, all competitors will then have the opportunity to practise each course at a greater speed. All registered competitors will also get the opportunity to try the optional demonstration events.
